About Me

Hey there! My name is Sigi and I am happily married to my husband, Robin and am a mom to my 5 year old son Levi, 1 year old daughter, Selah and our 2 dogs, Emma & Jax.

My love for photography grew with my little family and from trying to capture every milestone and memory. They teach me to appreciate the small details and how quickly they change and grow.

My favorite subjects to shoot are babies!  In 2017, I opened a small studio in my home in Garland just so I could capture newborns and children. In the studio, I like to safely pose baby to create beautiful images that you will treasure. I love planning fun cake smash sessions in studio, as well as milestone children's sessions.

FAQ

How do I book a session with Bright Lotus Photography?

To book your session, please email BrightLotusPhotography@gmail.com or message me using the form on my website! You can also send me a message through my facebook page. To book, clients will need to pay $100 retainer fee to save your spot on my calendar, and you’ll receive a link to sign your contract online. For newborn sessions, please contact me before your baby's due date to reserve a spot. And as soon as you have given birth, you'll send me a quick message letting me know that your baby has arrived. I'll give you a few available dates to choose from and you can let me know which works best for you. Your retainer will be applied to your session balance.

Where are you located?

In studio newborn & children’s sessions are held in my home studio in Garland, Texas. For other sessions, I’m available to travel around the Dallas area.

How long will it take to receive my images after the session?

My normal turnaround time is 3 weeks. You will be notified via email as soon as your images are ready.

How will I receive my images?

Photos are delivered via your private online gallery. Images are easy to view, choose favorites, share on social media, order prints or other photo gifts, and download to your computer. This delivery method is not only faster and more convenient for my clients, downloading your images versus keeping them on a CD will ensure that you can access them for years to come as many new computers are no longer being made with disk drives.

This also enables you to view them on tablets and other mobile viewing devices! As soon as you download your photos, it is important to back them up using a safe media storage solution.

What is included in my session price?

Session Prices include time with a professional photographer on location or in studio, session planning/styling, full professional editing, custom online gallery, and includes high-resolution digital images (number dependent on your package) with a print release.

When should I schedule my newborn session?

The best time for newborn photos is when the baby is around 14-21 days old, but sessions can also be scheduled past that time period. It’s best to book your session while you are still pregnant to ensure I have an opening around your due date. When you book a newborn session with me we will tentatively schedule the session on your estimated due date. Once the baby is born I ask that you contact me as soon as possible so we can set the actual date for the session. I only take a limited number of due dates per month to ensure that I have an opening when your baby is born. If you have already had your baby, please still contact me because I will try my best to schedule your new baby in as soon as possible.

Who provides the wraps, headbands, and outfits for newborn sessions?

I do! I am always adding new pieces to my collection. I'll send you a questionnaire to see which colors or themes you're interested in. You are not required to bring anything but you are certainly welcome to bring any special heirlooms and I will do my best to incorporate it into the session, (please email me a photo beforehand, so that I can find matching accessories/props). Please avoid bringing any crochet type items, they are usually too big for newborns and do not photograph well.

How long will the session last?

Most newborn sessions will last 3-4 hours. This will give us plenty of time to pose, soothe and feed the baby as needed. Cake smash sessions usually only take around 45 mins to an hour. Outdoor family portrait sessions vary in time depending on what you are looking for.

How long does my gallery stay online?

Your gallery will remain online for 14 days allowing you time to place orders. A $25 archival fee is required for any gallery that needs to be re-opened for another 7 day period, after your original 14 day period is up.

Where will the session take place?

Most sessions take place in my Garland studio. If you prefer a newborn session in your home, please book a lifestyle session. In-home lifestyle sessions are minimally posed, casual sessions that use your home as a backdrop. Cake smash sessions are done in my studio, so that I can set up the themed background décor. Family portraits are best done outdoors (location TBD).

Will I receive digital images that I can print?

Yes! I understand how important it is to have digital copies of your images, and I encourage you to share them on social media! You will receive a certain number of professionally edited, high-resolution digital images based on whichever session you have booked. Additional images are available to purchase once you see your gallery. You'll choose your favorites to download, with the option to purchase more. You are welcome to print your images anywhere you like and will receive a print release in writing. Please note that the professional print lab I use is calibrated to my monitor and you will receive “heirloom quality” prints and products, which means they're guaranteed to look just as sharp, crisp, and beautiful 100 years from now. I cannot guarantee the quality of photos printed outside of my professional lab.

Which payment methods do you accept?

You can pay via PayPal, Venmo, cash or check.

How should I prepare for my newborn session?

New parents often have many questions when it comes to bringing their new little one in for their newborn session. "What do we bring? What if I need to nurse? How do we prepare? What can we expect?" All of these questions are answered in my Newborn-Pre Session Guide, which will be emailed to you before your session takes place. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to call or email me at any time.

What if the weather is bad?

If inclement weather arises we will reschedule to another date that works for both of us. Wind conditions, rain chances, excessive rainfall before the session, cold temps and more can be factors that would cause for a session to be rescheduled. I will communicate with you if I have any concerns regarding inclement weather conditions and give you plenty of notice if a reschedule is necessary.

Special Notes for Newborn Sessions

  • Nursing moms should avoid spicy & gassy foods 24 hours before session along with caffeine, to avoid upsetting baby's tummy.
  • Try keeping you baby awake 1-2 hours before the session.
  • Make sure your baby has a full belly right before the session begins.
  • If bottle feeding, breastmilk or formula, please bring a few extra bottles for your session. Babies burn extra calories with all of the posing and will be extra hungry.
  • Dress baby in a button/zip up outfit, just ideally nothing that goes over baby’s head so we don’t disturb them too much.
  • If baby or either parent is sick please reschedule your session!
